Mental Health First Aid

Adult Course

This course trained 19 new Adult Mental Health First Aiders in our region. Congratulations to all! Mental Health First Aid training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses. It gives you the skills you need to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis. The Sedona International Film Festival, with support from Health First Foundation, presented the one-woman show "Bipolar & The English Channel," written and performed by Julie Ridge. The story tells how Ridge, once a casual mile-a-day pool swimmer, became an English Channel swimmer and record-making marathon athlete. It recounts how she woke up one not-so-fine day floridly manic, locked down in an unforgiving psychiatric ward, and culminates with her arduous journey back to a fulfilling life.

The Sedona International Film Festival, with support from Health First Foundation, presented the Sedona debut of the powerful, life-affirming, and uplifting "Every Brilliant Thing" in two sold-out performances.  Beside the public performances, "Every Brilliant Thing" was be presented to students at four Verde Valley high schools during Mental Health Awareness Month. Please help support these type of life-affirming performances and Mental Health First Aid courses by donating to our Health First Community Health Fund.
